History[]

Prior to the official reveal of GENBU, the illustrator, onidaruman, had worked with initial concepts for the eventual VirVox Project cast before settling on the finalized four auspicious beasts concept. One of these concepts included a cyber theme, with only GENBU illustrated for it.[1] Other themes included sea creatures and gems.[2] The order of creation was confirmed to be GENBU, Takuto, Takehiro (eventually revealed to be GENBU's real name), the white tiger concept (later Shirakami Kotarou), the azure dragon concept (later Aoyama Ryusei), the vermillion bird concept (later Wakamatsu Akashi), and Kigashima Sourin.[3]

On December 23, 2018, GENBU's voice and design were revealed along with a small biography. He was also released that day by VOLOR.

On January 15, 2019, GENBU received an update to his vocal.[4][5]

Retirement[]

GENBU's Synthesizer V voice database was retired upon release of Synthesizer V Studio and was replaced with one that was compatible with the engine in July 2020.
