History[]

On October 1, 2024, Internet Co., Ltd. announced the development of an AI voice database to be developed for Hibiki Koto, who was previously released as an AI voicebank for the VOCALOID6 engine released on April 18, and was expected to be released for Synthesizer V Studio on October 30. She received two demonstration reels and one original demonstration at launch showcasing her six vocal mode variations: "Ballade", a vocal mode that sings gently; "Cute", a vocal mode that sings with a "cute" voice; "Dark", a vocal mode that sings with a "dark" voice; "Musical", a vocal mode that sings in a musical style; "Falsetto"; and "Power", a vocal mode that sings powerfully and has a wide range of expressiveness with an "overwhelming singing ability, resulting in the best finish." Her full character design, which was announced to be illustrated by the official illustrator of Megpoid, Nou, returned as the illustrator for her Synthesizer V AI illustration, as well as the voice actress and Japanese singer Leon Tachibana, who would also make her return to provide her vocals for Hibiki Koto.[1][2][3]

Pre-order reservations began the same day on the official Internet Co., Ltd. online shop and DLsite respectively and would be available for purchase as download and packaged versions, including options for a Starter Pack bundle with the Synthesizer V Studio Pro editor and the standalone voice database.[4][5] A special discounted sale price was offered to users who have previously purchased and registered the VOCALOID6 edition of Hibiki Koto.[6]

Hibiki Koto is a feminine Japanese voice database based on the singing style of Leon Tachibana. As expected of an AI voice database, Koto is capable of singing with a more human-like and realistic voice.

Vocal traits as noted:
With Diffusion Probabilistic Models (DPM), Koto can sing more realistically through changes in volume and breath, further enriching singing details, making each singing unique, and providing creators with more options. Through this mode, she can use AI Retakes to create multiple "takes" of a sung section to find an ideal vocal without the need for "laborious tuning". This feature is only available in the Synthesizer V Studio Pro Editor.
