Do you remember when I locked most pages because there where vandals? Well, the fandom staff noticed and asked to unlock them. I told them that they would be unlocked by July 27th. I'm pretty sure I sad that date because I saw you setting a few pages to unlock that day, but I don't remember.
I didn't think I would be leaving the wiki by then and forgot to tell you about it. I apologise for telling this to you now. If you could unlock most or some locked pages by the 27th that'd be great. It's a pain to do manualy so if you can, try giving a roll to a bot you, or someone you can contact can control and leave the job to the bot.
(By the way Akumi's bot should still have an "active account" but I don't think you can use it)
I was looking a bit for synth v info (as in the engine) and i found out that Kanru made things for UTAU. Specifically, Arpasing and Moresampler. I don't know anything about them (at least yet), do you think they should have pages? (I personally would perfer to put them in one page) One of them (Arpasing ?) is an english vb script which could have helped in the development of Eleanor's vb, but as i said i know nothing about them right now, so what do you think?
.... I just want to say I'm sorry for writting long posts. I guess, i just want to say a lot of things? I hope these walls of text don't bore you
Of course, if there's nothing saying it Arpasing was used for Eleanor, i'm not going to make claims that it was but i was wondering if you think they should have pages. They will not be high priority and will be made only after stuff like the Synth V page gets completed (I am doing my best in finding info about it). I've, unfortunatly, had lots of trouble finding info on Dreamtonics, and Animen, so Arpasing and Moresampler might get a page before these companies, and Kanru seems to have written about them himself so it shouldn't be that hard to find info about them.
I want to be clear. I am not saying that we should throw important pages to the side. I am asking, when I fill out the Synthesizer V page, and add all info I have on all current companies, should I consider making page(s) for Arpasing and Moresampler since Kanru worked on them?
I, unfortunatly, have a hard time finding info on Dreamtonics, ANIMEN, AniCute, and VOLOR but I do know that AniCute and VOLOR are ANIMEN branches, and that Dreamtonics is the company that made Synthesizer V. The fact that ANIMEN is a Chinese company doesn't help either as I don't know much about Chinese media and can't do much research because of it.
There is a user that says he knows things about the synth but he's not active on the wiki (and kind of has a but history when it comes to responding) so I never went through the trouble of asking him. I will, though, if you believe that more info is needed, because I can't find more on my own.
This is something else entirely but please read it if you have time.
I also want to tell you something I completly forgot to mention. You obviously seem to have problems with some things but when I ask you about them directly, you always seem to avoid answering. You do know that, if you told me you didn't want the papers, I would have stopped making them? I can't guess what you're thinking and the fact that you, at least seem to, avoid answering when I ask you directly isn't helping.
If you have a problem with something please tell me. I obviously have trouble finding info on things but I have a much easier time making things, like papers. Yes, they have lots of code but I would love to have someone help me with that and no one has so far and I'm also not the kind of person to ask for help either.
I can't solve every problem which is why I'm okay with scrapping my own ideas for the sake of having something functioning. So, please, tell me if you have a problem with something.
Wel, since this thread is still recent and sort of open, i'll say this here instead of making a new thread. I'm leaving the wiki. Life is kind of... rough, i guess. If you want to undo anything i did, it shouldn't be harder than just copy-pasting the older code and replacing it with the new one (i'm not sure how much you can undo and this is just fasters in my opinion).
I'll remove my privileges too. I'm sorry for leaving the wiki to you like this but things might even work better without me so i guess it's not that bad.
I'm sorry for the late reply. I've been busy with work and hardly have time to do anything myself. But that's no excuse for not responding right away.
Regardless, I'm sorry to hear that things don't seem to be working out. You're welcome here any time, though, saying so is odd given that you and Akumi were here before I was. But it still remains true anyways.
I was thinking about the lyrics layout and came up with this. There's nothing really different other than the background colours. The only problem i have with it is if all that code breaks and the person editting can't find and fix the problem then the whole thing can break. I was wondering if i could make it through css or a template, and while a template would be the easiest, i think css would be the best since it wouldn't get in the way since it's hard for people with out acess to the css code to break it... i just don't know how to make either of them.. yet... . I would like your opinion before i start looking on how to do (one of) those things. (Though, there's a chance that doing it css is imposible)
I'm sorry that i'm worring over something so small (and kind of stupid) i just find the VLW/SLW/VW lyrics layout kind of boring. I get that's it easier to edit but i still find it a bit boring.
"i just find the VLW/SLW/VW lyrics layout kind of boring. I get that's it easier to edit but i still find it a bit boring."
I'm sorry. This is what I'm not understanding. Trading ease of use for appearance should not be a priority. Functionality and being easy to use should come first before its looks. If you can do both, then fine, but ease-of-use should not be sacrificed.
This was also what I was having a problem with in regard to the papers. Opening it in source editor and being bombarded with code isn't user-friendly. If I'm reluctant to touch it because I'm afraid of displacing things and breaking it, imagine how someone who isn't experienced in editing would feel. Templates should be easy to use and the large amounts of code should be hidden away and be universal to every page that needs it.
I get that you want to be more unique and make each character have its own thing, even deviate from other wikis, but honestly I think it should come later. There's other things that should be prioritized, like information about the software(s) themselves. It's harder when we don't have people around to help with this information, but the least that could be done is get something basic in.
And I'm going to admit that I find it somewhat hurtful that you don't really want people from Vocaloid Wiki to help. My personal weakness in editing is coding, which is why I ask for help from Bunai, Xuanmien, and Tokina much of the time over on the other wikis because they have more experience in it. The only thing I can say is if you want to keep the papers templates and such, please put them in a standard template like this, so it can end up being much cleaner like this. These types of templates need to stem from a "mother" or else they're very cluttered on their own.
TL;DR Call anyone that can help you, don't listen to me if i'm bothering you. I already gave up on editting wiki but i still enjoy making stuff for it even if nothing i make gets used. (and i finally got around to reading Genbu's concept art text)
I'd love to put them into templates or even css but i don't know how to do that stuff either. The layout i showed you does in fact have wiki code (which is why i want to put it into a template or css) but it's still the exact same as the VW/VLW/SLW. Literally the only thing that changes is the Original/Romanazition/Translation part having a few colours, copy pasting it shouldn't be hard. The problem is, i can see people accendently messing it up, panicking, thinking that people will think they are vandalizing, and then just leaving.
Of course, you could say that's a point as to why there shouldn't be any "complex" wiki code but i'll say that that's how i was when i first got into editting, and there was zero complex wiki code to be found. The only reason no complex wiki code should exist bare is because it's inconvenient, and it will always be inconvenient. That's why lots of wikis use css to constumize their wikis.
I always try to make stuff i can use. I'd love to put all of those things i made through css code but i'm having a hard time with it and making templates for every single character simply for some colours is something i' find annoying to do (even if i am forced to do it sometimes). I want every character to have their own themes and i know that there are ways to do it without having to make 100 templates but i can't do it.
For example, the papers are made through css the "code part" is not that complex. Unless you think writting [<div class= Eleanorpaper>] is complex. The backgrounds are done through css, the tabbers do need to be their own templates as far as i can tell but everything else is just tables. The only differece with normal article tables is that they have extra code, which i'm preety sure can be removed with little consequence (as in trying to leave only the stylistic part of the code, which would be a line of code).
I'm not sure if i can make them more simple with css, like make the letters white/black/not blend with background, the v-tabbers and the tables have different colours. Pretty much like themes, except instead of writting [|theme=Whatever] you write [<div class=Whateverpaper>], though i would love to be able to just write [|theme=Whatever] instead.
I can make them templates, that's not too hard. The problem is i need to make a /vb template that has Hayi's theme and then use it just to fill out her actual /vb template. Meaning that i have to make double the templates for something that can probably be done through css. To put it into perspective, right now there are 8 characters, minus the test vocals, that means that there will be 16 /vb templates just so that there can be themes, imagine if there were as many as vocaloids.
The point is, if i could make everything through css i would, because i understand it's cleanner that way and i have nothing against that, i even prefer it, i just don't know how to do it. It's why we still use the vcolor template and not themes because i, first, can't get it to work, and second, don't like the result it gives me. Not only that, but the fact that this wiki gets on averge at least over 1,000 views a month and only you and i are editting is not helping.
I want to believe that i never denied a helping hand. Yes, i have high standarts and i want to achieve those standarts, not because i think it's possible but, because i know it's possible, i've seen it. That doesn't mean i'm not willing to compensate. I very well understand that i have high standarts, i also know that if i work for it i can make it, but along with the fact that i don't really want to spend too much time for something like this, there's no one is giving me a reason to achieve these "high standarts", no one to help me either. I kept editting because i thought that once the wiki looks good and gets fiiled there would be people coming to edit and wanting to help but the wiki views are only increasing and the only editors, outside of you and i, are vandals.
I don't mind having a small amount of editors or being the only editor but the wiki is dead without us. It was dead when i decided to stop editting and it would remain dead if you weren't willing to pick it up.
I will also say this again, i appreciate that you take my suggestions to heart but i only said that that's something i would like and that if you really want to/already have asked people from there then you are more than free to get people from there. I'm at least sure that i said that because i know that you are an admin there and that you know a lot of people from there so it would only be natural for you ask for assistance from there.
It's not that i don't like the way the VW looks, it's that i see it everywhere in vocal synth wikis and i'm bored of it. Especially when i go to other non-vocal synth related wikis and see how much care they put on trying to look good and provide info at the same time. Right now, every vocal synth wiki just looks so bare in comparison to other wikis.
I was never in charge in any of the other vocal synth wikis. I never really wanted to be, i didn't care, and don't really care right now, about how they looked or their layouts or whatever. But i care about this one and i want to make it look as good as i can. I don't care as much anymore and if it wasn't already visible, i'm more than okay with just making this neon green vocaloid wiki with different charaters in it but if i can avoid it i want to. That doesn't mean it has to be avoided.
I'm sorry if this sounds like i have something against you or anyone from other vocal synth wikis. Because, believe it or not, i don't hate you just because i have a different opinion from you. I also understand that you guys are putting your hearts into those wikis. I'm just different from you. I'm not trying to "deviate from other wikis" because the "other wikis" were never a baseline for me, they were, and still are, just other wikis that happen to cover something similar. But you guys seem to see it differently and that's okay.
Sorry if i'm bothering you, but today i found out that there's a spanish synthV wiki, and while their layouts have a few visablity problems i thinks it's a good place if you are looking for ideas for the wiki. Of course, i'm not saying to copy it, and if you don't like the look that's okay too, but i really liked it and thought it was a good idea to bring it up.
There's no need to reply, i just wanted to bring it up. Have a nice day.
EDIT: For some reason it's not showing up on this wiki so here's a link.
There have been a few (only two but still) cases of vandalism, and since you are busy right now and since i don't feel like watching the wiki everyday in case someone decides to vandalise a page, i changed the protection of at least most pages ("at least" because i might have missed some i don't remember existed), besides user pages. I took it to the extreme, to be honest (i think the activity feed went crazy because of it...) but, it's better to safe than sorry i guess. That and i don't want to be on guard duty in case someone decides to pretend they are smart. This is temperary, so feel free to change it back to normal. I doubt this will effect you but i wanted to inform you.
agh, sorry. I should watch the activity feed here more often. I'm too pampered with how we have it done on Vocaloid Wiki's server where it prints all activities there, so I completely forgot how I used to function on wikis before we had a tool like that.
It's okay, it's not your fault. I wasn't try to scold you (in case you saw it as such). I just wanted to make sure you knew so that you can change it back whenever you feel like it's okay. I undid everything as soon as i saw it. I tend to vist the wiki daily anyway, i just don't want to have to visit simply for the sake of catching vandals. As i said, most pages are protected now so, no one should be able to vandalise the wiki. If you want me to, i can undo the protection (just..... not now...).
When i was thinking about what i want on this wiki i thought it should consist of mostly official stuff, like demos and official albums. But then i thought that one day video games and official concerts might be a thing so, i thought that i should probably make producer pages, and album pages for whatever SynthV album i find. So i, personaly, would host album pages here.
But if you keep non-demo songs out of the wiki then, there would either be a lot of linking back to the lyrics wiki, no linking to the songs, or there would be a link to the lyrics wiki album page, if a lyrics wiki counterpart exists.
That being said, there are albumpages here. There are only two album pages but they exist. What you saw in my sandbox was supposed to be part of the producer layout page, it's supposed to be the albums section of the page, as in what albums the producer has made. I used tabviews, like the demo pages. If the template is too hard, or confusing to use, you can change it to whatever you find easiest/better.
That's fine. We can have official content here and maybe unofficial/doujinshi on lyrics wiki.
There's also a possibility of simply having an Interwiki template between the wikis as well, rather than the whole process of [[w:c:wikihere:pagehere|text]]. I was planning to have this integrated since we link out to Vocaloid a few times and may have to for the lyrics wiki as well depending on how often it happens.
Also, will you work more on the colours? I'm asking because the papers don't change when you change the colours on the Vcolor template and i want to make sure what the final colours will be so that the papers can match. Thankfully, the only papers made right now are Eleanor and Haiyi's so it's not that much of a problem.
Amadelen made these lyric templates (LyricsTabZh, LyricsTabJp, LyricsTab), so please use them when making demo pages or song pages for the lyrics wiki. I will fix all the pages that already exist, so don't worry about that.
It's fine, i can fix the pages myself later but if you could, please use this format for pages from now on. It's really annoying to fix, especially since i don't know even a bit of chinese and have to just copy paste without thinking or knowing what i'm doing (I'll still fix them so please don't worry about that). I would make a template, and i will try to find how to make one, but i can't right now so if you could, please stop using the VW format.
If it's easier for you to use the VW format, that's fine. You could even just send me the lyrics if you want so that i can make at least the lyrics part of the page and i will try to make a template as fast as i can. So, if it'd be troublesome to use the format i want then, please use the template when it's done.
The wikicode itself can sometimes break so a template is needed but for now this is all i can do.
