The Musical Isotope Project (音楽的同位体プロジェクト), also known as the ARTIFICAL SINGING SYNTHESIZER project is a series developed by KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO that was developed in July 2021 with the creation of the first CeVIO AI library in the project KAFU. This is a series of synthetic voice software initially developed in collaboration with CeVIO Project based on the singing voices of KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO's virtual singers, but conceptualized with a set of creative rules in mind. Later, development extended to other voice synthesizers such as Synthesizer V AI and VOICEPEAK.
Concept[]
The Musical Isotope Project, which was born and developed from the theme of KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO's virtual singers and noted to "expand the possibilities of girls who love singing", is a line of singing voice synthesis software that can realistically reproduce human singing voices using the latest AI technology.[1]
From the beginning concept, four Musical Isotopes that are "clearly ruled in the creative domain" were conceptualized, each governed a by a set of rules including:
- Sharing an appearance with the virtual singers themselves
- Making the name "two Kanji characters"
- Essentially, "redesigning the original costume" of the virtual singers themselves with a white coloring.
It was stated that an important factor was that the original character design was shared and linked, and was the same person but also not. The Isotope series was a project that promoted the "UGC" (user-generated content) aspect and from the desire to have users "dye it in various colors". For example, SEKAI's design was changed to white though was still based on isekaijoucho's original costume. It was noted that SEKAI's illustrator reoenl was asked to redesign the original virtual singer's costume, it needed to be based on the above rules rather than have total creative freedom of the design.
It was announced that all five Virtual Witch Phenomenon AI singers would debut in the future based on the vocals of KAF, RIM, isekaijoucho, Harusaruhi, and KOKO. PIEDPIPER's thought was that the appearance when five people were lined up was very important, and the color scheme and design were finally decided while looking at the balance when the characters were lined up. While trying not to change the original costume design of the five virtual singers (KAF, RIM, isekaijoucho, Harusaruhi, and KOKO) too much, the color scheme was boldly changed to a white base and no other to avoid appropriating the creatives of the artists involved.[2] Development lead PIEDPIPER (KAMITSUBAKI P)'s belief is that making "things" is "more interesting if there are restrictions".
History[]
The first two vocalists that were announced for the Musical Isotope Project. The first was KAFU, a vocalist based on the virtual singer KAF who was released on July 7, 2021 for CeVIO AI. The second was SEKAI, a vocalist based on isekaijoucho who was released on April 29, 2022.
On July 5, KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO announced the ARTIFICIAL SINGING SYNTHESIZER 1ST ANNIVERSARY PROGRAM livestream event to be held on July 7.[3][4] The event featured voice actress and singer Miyu Tomita, KAFU, SEKAI, isekaijoucho, KAF, and RIM, who conducted a series of new announcements regarding the Musical Isotope Project project.[5] The first was the announcement of a new series of compilation albums for KAFU titled 絢爛のアシンメトリー (Gorgeous Asymmetry), 夢幻のアシンメトリー (Phantom Asymmetry) and 結晶のアシンメトリー (Crystal Asymmetry) to be released on July 13, 20, and 27 respectively.[6]. [8] The fourth announcement, in celebration of the project's 1st anniversary, was a set of two 12cm plush dolls of KAFU and SEKAI. Pre-orders for the plush dolls ran from July 7 to July 25 on the official KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO FINDME STORE.[9] The fifth announcement was the creation of a new website portal for the Musical Isotope project.[10][11] The sixth announcement was two music and illustration contests revolving around SEKAI.[12][13] The seventh announcement was the release date and debut of RIME, who was scheduled to be released on October 25, 2022 on the official KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO FINDME STORE.[14]. An official website was created for RIME[15] and the pre-order reservations for her Starter Package and Song Voice began.[16] Her debut demo cover of RIM's original song Carnivorous Plant debuted and released on YouTube following the livestream.[17][18]. Following was a congratulatory message from KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO director PIEDPIPER as well as various other staff members and producers and messages from isekaijoucho, KAF and RIM themselves.[19] The final announcement was the production of the Musical Isotope CeVIO AI vocals HARU and COKO based on the virtual singers Harusaruhi and KOKO respectively and were planned to make their debut on July 15, 2022.[20][21]
