Ritchy is an English vocal developed and distributed by Dreamtonics Co., Ltd., and released as an AI voice database for Synthesizer V Studio in July 2023.

He is voiced by MBanja Ritchy, a hip hop artist, trackmaster, rapper, and producer.

Concept[]

Like previous Dreamtonics vocals before him, Ritchy was intended to be treated as an official voice database or an indispensable "reference-level" type of singing voice, representing Dreamtonics's brand quality.

Ritchy was designed as one of Dreamtonics's featured rap vocalists, marketed in line with Synthesizer V Studio 1.9.0's new rap support.

Etymology[]

The name "Ritchy" derives from MBanja Ritchy, his voice provider. His name is rendered in kana as "ćƒŖćƒƒćƒćƒ¼".[1]

Appearance[]

Like previous Dreamtonics vocals, rather than having an official human-like avatar, Ritchy is represented by an abstract symbol, the letter "R" and the letter "I", drawn from the first two letters of his name. The letters are rich electric blue in color with hints of light blue and forest green. The "R" is rectangular in shape and the rectangular "I" is the same height as the "R". Characterization is left to the song producers themselves rather than the product, so Ritchy is open to any form of visual interpretation, allowing the producer to decide what they would like him to look like.

Marketing[]

Like previous Dreamtonics vocals, Ritchy was treated as an official or standard vocal for the engine, where he could potentially be found in demonstrations of Synthesizer V Studio and its AI capabilities. This also meant that he would be among the first vocals to be equipped with the latest engine updates. Along with D-Lin, Ritchy was one of the focal voices of marketing Synthesizer V Studio 1.9.0, which introduced rap support. The two were often promoted together as they shared some demonstration videos and were available for purchase individually or as a dual back (exclusive to the Dreamtonics Taobao shop).[2] Ritchy's voice was featured in the Synthesizer V Studio 1.9.0 introduction video.[1]

Ritchy is one of the few Dreamtonics vocals with a known voice provider. He was marketed to be based on the voice and style of the Hip Hop artist MBanja Ritchy.

On August 2, 2023, Dreamtonics announced that Ritchy had his own artist association profile on NetEase Music. Creators can use the profile to add to their published songs, providing a more unified retrieval method and a higher exposure rate for the works. Dreamtonics would provide assistance services to creators at no charge and would not obtain any income belonging to the artist when associating their works with the singer profiles. Based on NetEase Music's policies, creators needed to provide relevant proof of purchase to NetEase Music's customer service in order to associate a virtual singer with their works, thus, screenshots of receipts would need to be prepared in advance. NetEase Music's customer service would then confirm the request and forward it to Dreamtonics, who would approve the requests within five business days of receiving them.[3]
