History[]
On February 27, 2023, Dreamtonics Co., Ltd. posted a poem on bilibili along with an announcement that new songs and other news were expected for February 28 at 17:00 GMT+8.[1][2] Details were not specified but the first part of the poem seemed to describe the beauty of song and pronunciation in music across any language.[3][4] The second part described the role of melodies and pitches in music, emphasizing the importance of rhythm.[5][6] On February 28, a technical demo announcing the future support for the Cantonese dialect and rap was uploaded. The final part of the demo showed a new male voice database rapping in Mandarin Chinese and English.[7][8] On April 18, along with the launch of Synthesizer V Studio version 1.9.0b1, it was announced that "D-Lin", the Mandarin rap-focused voice database showcased in February, and "Ritchy", a newly introduced English rap-focused voice database, were made available via a Feature-Limited Trial.[9] Ritchy's voice provider was also revealed to be MBanja Ritchy.[10] The final release date for both voice databases was not yet announced.
On May 18, AH-Software Co. Ltd. launched a livestream that mainly focused on Tohoku Kiritan's upcoming VOICEPEAK release and other news. Ritchy's voice was featured in the livestream as a small showcase.[11]
On May 23, Synthesizer V Studio 1.9.0b2 was launched, focusing on rectifying design issues as addressed by the user base in the version 1.9.0b1 post-release survey. Ritchy and D-Lin were still noted to only be available via FLTs, though their version numbers were indicated as "v011".[12][13] On June 21, with the release of Synthesizer V Studio 1.9.0, Ritchy's image was revealed when using the latest version of his FLT v100.[14]
Ritchy and D-Lin were released simultaneously on AH-Software's store, and on Dreamtonics' International, Taobao, and WeChat Mini Program on July 4. Ritchy was available for purchase individually or as a bundle pack with the Synthesizer V Studio Pro editor, and exclusively on Dreamtonics's Taobao shop, he could be bought as a dual voice database pack with D-Lin while excluding the editor. Ritchy's FLT was confirmed to still be available despite the final version's release, encouraging users to try him before deciding on purchasing.[15][16][17]

Retirement[]
Ritchy was discontinued by Dreamtonics on March 21, 2025 with the release of Synthesizer V Studio 2 and Ritchy 2. As of March 23, several Japanese online stores like the AHS Store, DLsite, and SONICWIRE still sell the original Ritchy voice database, but stock may be limited. Also, his FLT version is still downloadable from Dreamtonics' Resources repository, even though it cannot be used on Synthesizer V Studio 2.

Voice Databases[]
- Ritchy was advertised to deliver an authentic street vibe.
- Ritchy is a versatile vocalist with a calm and impactful low range that has a unique release breath suitable for rhythmic spoken word and rap. He also has a gentle and swift-transitioning falsetto.
- He was noted to bring together tranquility and huskiness, allowing him to be flexible in not only rap music, but also other genres.
- His "Singing" mode was noted to capture MBanja Ritchy's characteristic husky timbre.
- With Diffusion Probabilistic Models (DPM), Ritchy can sing more realistically through changes in volume and breath, further enriching singing details, making each singing unique, and providing creators with more options. Through this mode, he can use AI Retakes to create multiple "takes" of a sung section to find an ideal vocal without the need for "laborious tuning". This feature is only available in the Synthesizer V Studio Pro Editor.
- Phoneme format: ARPABET
- Through Cross-lingual Singing Synthesis, Ritchy can sing in not only Mandarin Chinese but also in English, Japanese, and Cantonese Chinese.
