Sheena (シーナ) is a Japanese and English vocal developed and distributed by Dreamtonics Co., Ltd., and released as an AI voice database for Synthesizer V Studio in October 2023. In December 2024, Sheena was announced to be receiving an update for the new Synthesizer V Studio 2 engine, introduced as Sheena 2, and was released simultaneously alongside the new editor in March 2025.[2][3][4][5]

Her voice provider has not been revealed.

Concept[]

Like previous Dreamtonics vocals before her, Sheena was intended to be treated as an official voice database or an indispensable "reference-level" type of singing voice, representing Dreamtonics's brand quality.

Etymology[]

In English, Sheena is primarily a female name of Scottish origin that means "God Is Gracious".[6] It is the anglicized form of Sìne and was popularized outside of Scotland in the 1980s by the singer Sheena Easton.[7]

In Japanese, the closest sounding kanji name to "sheena" is 椎名 (Shiina). It is pronounced "shi-i-na" and the Kanji means "cedar name". Using the western meaning of the name "God is gracious", the closest matching Kanji name based on this meaning would be 祝賀 (Shukuga), pronounced "shu-ku-ga". This kanji means "to congratulate".[8]

No official information was released regarding why the name "Sheena" was chosen or what the name may mean.

Sheena's name in kana was rendered as "シーナ".

Appearance[]

Like previous Dreamtonics vocals, rather than having an official human-like avatar, Sheena is represented by an abstract symbol, the letters S and H, which are drawn from the first two letters of her name. The letters are purple with hints of white on the S and H, as well as two streaks of pink in the middle of the H. The S is rhomboid in shape, with the left and bottom partially cropped, while the H is shorter than the S. Characterization is left to the song producers themselves rather than the product, so Sheena is open to any form of visual interpretation, allowing the producer to decide what they would like her to look like.

Additional Information[]

Marketing[]

Like previous Dreamtonics vocals, Sheena was treated as an official or standard vocal for the engine, where she could potentially be found in demonstrations of Synthesizer V Studio and its AI capabilities. This also meant that she would be among the first vocals to be equipped with the latest engine updates. She was Dreamtonics's first synthetic voice labeled and marketed as bilingual Japanese and English, in a fashion similar to Weina back when she was marketed as a bilingual Mandarin Chinese and English voice.

Reputation[]

Sheena's character status
Reaction
As a vocalist without an official character, this allowed producers and fans to create their own for Sheena, resulting in a variety of designs. Her voice was also noted to sound professional, well done, realistic, and was met with overall positive and impressed reactions.

Impact
As a Dreamtonics product to demonstrate the capabilities of Synthesizer V Studio (specifically Synthesizer V AI), Sheena was considered to be one of the default or reference vocals used for tech demos, allowing for producers to compare and understand the differences per update. She had a professional feel and made for a good starting AI voice database, which was especially praised for sounding realistic and helped gauge interest in this type of voice database for Synthesizer V as a whole.
